Description
When we shopped for a family camper, we had a list: a real bed for us, bunks for the kids, two axles for safety, and a body that holds up, all in a trailer short enough to tow and park easily. Almost nothing checked every box. This one did, and they don't come up often.
We love this camper. The only reason we're selling is that our kids have gotten older and don't want to camp with us anymore, so we're moving to something smaller.
It sleeps a family of five easily: a king bed in the rear slide-out, two bunks up front, plus a dinette and sofa for extra sleepers.
It's built better than most trailers in this price range. The outside is gel-coated fiberglass, the walls are framed in welded aluminum instead of wood studs, and they're insulated with solid foam. There's no water damage anywhere, it's tight as a drum. In our experience it stays warm and dry inside and cleans up easily. The underbelly is enclosed and heated.
The two axles are a big deal for safety. If a tire blows on the highway, the other tire on that side keeps carrying the load, which makes it much easier to stay in control and get to the shoulder. Two axles also tow smoother. It has electric brakes on all four wheels, 15-inch radial tires and an equalizer suspension. We've taken it down plenty of dirt roads and potholes to get to the good campsites with no problems.
Work and upgrades:
- Over $4,000 in shop work at All RV Service in Scotts Valley in 2022: full roof reseal and recoat, new shower skylight, all four brakes replaced, wheel bearings repacked with new seals, new propane hoses, new awning fabric. Invoice available.
- USB fast-charge ports that run off the house battery, so you can charge phones and tablets with no hookups or generator
- All LED lights: brighter, and they use a fraction of the power so the battery lasts longer
- One brand-new tire (receipt available), the rest have good tread
Features: outside camp kitchen, 14-foot awning, 50-gallon fresh water tank, 30-gallon gray and 30-gallon black tanks, two 30 lb propane tanks, air conditioning, furnace, fridge, water heater, stove and oven. Keystone rates it for about 2,800 lbs of cargo.
Everything works. No leaks and no soft spots. Registration is current.
One thing to know: in 2022 the shop replaced the original automatic changeover propane regulator with a single regulator, so it runs on one tank at a time and you swap the hose when one runs empty.
This is the perfect camper for a family that wants everything above in one trailer. If you don't need all of that, you can probably find something cheaper elsewhere, and that's fine. But if you do, this is the one.
No lowballers please. Located in La Selva Beach and happy to show it anytime.
