Description

This custom 2017 Grand Design Solitude 375RES offers something very different from a typical used fifth wheel: a thoughtfully renovated residential-style interior combined with a $25,536 professionally installed solar and electrical system.
Both the 2020 interior renovation and professional solar installation were featured in Rootless Living Magazine.
The RV was used for full-time living and traveled throughout the United States from June 2017 through September 2021. It has been stationary since September 2021.

CUSTOM RENOVATION
The RV underwent an extensive interior renovation in spring 2020 designed around full-time living and working remotely.
Interior features include updated flooring throughout, white cabinetry with black hardware, custom wood trim and accents, updated bathroom finishes, residential-style countertops, fireplace and extensive built-in storage.
One of our favorite features is the dedicated office/workspace surrounded by large windows, providing a true work-from-anywhere setup without sacrificing the primary living space.
The 375RES floor plan provides a spacious residential feel with five slide-outs, all currently operational.

Additional features include:
Spacious raised rear living area
Fireplace
Dedicated office/work area
Private bedroom with extensive storage
Full bathroom with glass-enclosed shower
Large kitchen with extensive cabinetry
Residential refrigerator
Multiple pass-through exterior storage compartments
Pull-out exterior storage tray
Two A/C units, both currently operational on shore power
50-amp RV

$25,536 PROFESSIONAL SOLAR & ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
In September 2020, Future Solutions (FSI) in Elkhart, Indiana professionally installed an extensive solar, lithium battery and inverter system designed for substantial off-grid capability.
The installation cost $25,536 before tax and was subsequently featured in Rootless Living Magazine.
Major equipment includes:
1,300 watts of solar
Combination of JPP 300W and 175W solar panels
Three separate solar circuits
3 Victron SmartSolar 100/50 MPPT charge controllers
Dual Victron MultiPlus 3kVA UL-listed inverter/chargers
Inverters stacked and communicating for load balancing
Up to approximately 6,000 VA combined inverter capacity, dependent upon operating conditions and battery state
Victron Lynx Power In, shunt and distribution components
Victron Cerbo GX
GX Touch 50 display
Victron VRM remote monitoring capability
2 Micro-Air soft-start modules
Precision Circuits Li-BIM
Battery Guardian AutoSelect
Custom battery busbars
Thermostatically controlled battery heating pads
The system was originally equipped with an 800Ah Battle Born GC2 lithium battery bank.
CURRENT SOLAR/BATTERY CONDITION
The original Battle Born batteries remain physically installed but have reached the end of their usable life and require replacement.
As a result, the solar/battery system is not currently operational as originally designed. The solar panels, dual Victron inverters, MPPT controllers, Lynx components, Cerbo GX, wiring and other professionally installed infrastructure remain with the RV.
The two air-conditioning units currently operate normally while connected to shore power.
CONDITION & DISCLOSURES
We believe in being transparent about the RV's history and current condition.
The RV was lived in and traveled extensively from June 2017 through September 2021, including multiple trips across the country. Exact mileage is unknown. It has remained stationary since September 2021.

Known items currently requiring attention:
Water heater: Original water heater failed in summer 2026 and requires replacement. Running water works throughout the RV, but there is currently no hot water.
Lithium batteries: Original 800Ah Battle Born battery bank requires replacement before the solar/battery system can return to its intended operation.
Exterior storage tray: Pull-out tray requires repair.

All five slide-outs are currently operational, and both A/C units operate on shore power.

This Solitude would be a great fit for someone looking for a full-time residence, stationary RV/tiny-home setup, remote-work RV or recreational fifth wheel who appreciates the value of having the expensive solar and electrical infrastructure already professionally installed.
The RV is being sold in its current condition with the known issues disclosed above.
