Description

Built for serious four-season camping, the 2013 Northwood Arctic Fox 990 combines rugged construction, impressive holding-tank capacity, and a spacious slide-out interior in one of Northwood Manufacturing’s most recognized truck camper floorplans. Built in Oregon and designed for long-bed trucks, the 990 is an excellent match for travelers looking to explore the Pacific Northwest without giving up the comfort and capability of a larger RV.

Northwood constructed the Arctic Fox 990 around a welded aluminum superstructure with thick-wall framing, solid-fill anchor blocking, high-density block foam insulation, and a crowned full walk-on roof. The camper also features a continuous one-piece fiberglass cabover and enclosed, heated holding tanks, giving the 990 genuine cold-weather credentials beyond those of a basic recreational truck camper.

Inside, a full-wall slide expands the dinette and refrigerator area to create considerably more floor space. The front cabover provides a dedicated queen sleeping area surrounded by wardrobe and storage space, while the dinette converts for additional sleeping accommodations. Solid-wood cabinetry, a six-cubic-foot refrigerator, three-burner range with oven, and generous pantry storage make the 990 well suited for extended trips. A rear wet bath keeps the floorplan self-contained without consuming excessive interior space.

The Arctic Fox 990 also provides substantial off-grid capability. Dual battery provisions, large LP capacity, solar pre-wiring, generator readiness, and large holding tanks make it a particularly capable choice for dry camping. Available factory equipment included an Onan 2.5kW LP generator, thermal-pane windows, solar equipment, power awning, and other upgrades, so those items should be confirmed on the individual camper before advertising them as installed.

For exploring Oregon, heading into the mountains, or traveling well beyond established campgrounds, the 2013 Northwood Arctic Fox 990 delivers the rugged construction, four-season capability, storage, and self-contained comfort that have helped make the 990 a long-running favorite among truck camper owners.
