1999 Newmar Dutch Star 3858 Class A Motorhome Approx. 83,378 Miles Well-Equipped, Spacious Coach

For sale is our 1999 Newmar Dutch Star 3858, a well-built Class A motorhome from an era when Newmar was producing substantial, solid coaches with excellent storage and a very livable interior.

This is not a newly restored or cosmetically perfect motorhome. It is a 27-year-old coach that has been used, maintained, repaired, and enjoyed, and I want to represent it accurately. For someone looking for an affordable large Class A with plenty of room and equipment already aboard, it deserves a serious look.

The odometer shows approximately 83,378 miles.

The Dutch Star has a spacious interior with a large front cockpit, two comfortable captain's chairs, extensive oak cabinetry, a reclining sofa, dining area, full kitchen, private bathroom, separate shower, bedroom, substantial closet space, and a large amount of interior and basement storage. The interior presents remarkably well for its age and retains much of the quality woodwork and cabinetry Newmar was known for.

The coach includes a Heart Interface Freedom 20 inverter/charger system, Go Power! 30-amp PWM solar controller, roof-mounted solar panel, multiple house/chassis batteries, automatic transfer-switch equipment, onboard water pump, conventional RV plumbing systems, roof air-conditioning equipment, and a Kenwood stereo. There is also considerable pass-through/basement storage underneath the coach.

The exterior is typical of a motorhome of this age. The paint, graphics, sealants, roof and exterior surfaces show normal aging and weather exposure. The roof has received sealant and maintenance work over the years and is not being represented as cosmetically new. The exterior storage compartments and mechanical areas likewise show normal use.

The coach currently has Continental 275/70R22.5 tires. The tire photographs include the DOT information, and prospective buyers are encouraged to evaluate the tires themselves based on both age and condition rather than relying solely on remaining tread. I would consider tire condition an item a buyer should inspect carefully when budgeting for the coach.

The battery compartment contains a multi-battery system and, like many older coaches, would benefit from cleaning and routine battery/cable maintenance. Photos of the battery bank, inverter, transfer equipment, plumbing equipment and other mechanical areas are available so a buyer can see what is actually installed rather than relying on a generic equipment list.

One thing I particularly like about this Dutch Star is the amount of usable storage. The basement compartments are large, carpeted, and accessible, making the coach practical for extended trips or longer stays.

The interior has the comfortable residential feel that older Newmar coaches are known for. There is real cabinetry throughout, a substantial bedroom area with built-in storage, a private toilet compartment, separate shower, vanity, wardrobe space, and plenty of room for two people to travel comfortably.

This coach should appeal most to a buyer who appreciates the construction and space of an older Newmar and understands that purchasing a motorhome of this age is different from buying a late-model RV. There will be maintenance and updating opportunities, but the entry price is also dramatically different from purchasing a newer diesel Class A.

We recently moved to a different RV, which is the reason this coach is being offered for sale.

I have taken an extensive collection of photographs of the coach, including areas that sellers don't always photograph roof, tires and DOT codes, batteries, inverter/charger, electrical equipment, storage compartments, plumbing equipment, mechanical areas, cockpit, living area, bathroom, bedroom and exterior. I would rather a prospective buyer know exactly what they are coming to see before making the trip.

The coach is being sold as-is, appropriate for its age, and prospective buyers are welcome to perform or arrange their own independent inspection before purchase.

If you're looking for a pristine, completely updated late-model motorhome, this probably isn't the right coach. But if you're looking for a large, well-equipped Newmar Dutch Star at an attainable price, with lots of storage and a comfortable interior, this one is worth considering.
