Description
2018 Ford Transit 350HD Extended High-Roof Dually Custom Camper Van
56,000 miles 2WD Clean title Professionally built Located in Sonoma County, California
This professionally built Ford Transit 350HD is a spacious, four-season camper designed for comfortable off-grid travel. The extended body, high roof and dual rear wheels provide considerably more interior room, carrying capacity and stability than a typical camper van.
At approximately 21 feet long and 9 feet 4 inches high, it is easier to drive and park than a traditional motorhome while still providing a complete interior living space. The approximately 6-foot-5-inch interior height allows most people to stand comfortably inside.
We have used the van for week-long off-grid stays in the Sierra Nevada, California coastal trips, cross-country travel and visits to Los Angeles, where it served as both a hotel and mobile office. It has proven comfortable and capable for everything from remote camping to extended highway travel.
OFF-GRID ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
640 watts of Renogy solar
400Ah Battle Born lithium battery bank
Victron MultiPlus 3000-watt inverter/charger
Victron MPPT 100/50 solar charge controller
Victron BMV-712 battery monitor
225-amp battery isolation manager
Charging from solar, the vehicle alternator or shore power
The electrical system provides substantial capacity for camping without hookups. Three charging sources make it possible to recharge the batteries while driving, from the solar panels or when connected to shore power.
INTERIOR AND CAMPING FEATURES
Power-lift queen bed
Full interior shower
Air Head composting toilet
Approximately 40-gallon freshwater tank
Webasto heater
Approximately 6 feet 5 inches of interior standing height
Four-season, off-grid camper configuration
Extended-length body with generous living and storage space
The power-lift queen bed provides a comfortable permanent sleeping area without requiring the bed to be assembled every evening. Raising the bed creates useful space underneath for storage and daytime living.
The enclosed interior shower and Air Head toilet make the van genuinely self-contained. The large freshwater tank, solar array and lithium battery system allow for extended travel without depending on campgrounds or hookups.
The Webasto heater makes the interior comfortable during cold-weather travel. We have successfully camped off-grid at approximately 7,500 feet in the Sierra Nevada and traveled through a wide range of climates and conditions.
The dual-rear-wheel Transit 350HD chassis provides a stable foundation for the conversion, particularly during long-distance highway travel. Despite its generous interior space, the van does not require towing and combines transportation, accommodations and off-grid capability in one vehicle.
We purchased the van in October 2021. Since then, it has taken us through Medicine Bow National Forest, the Badlands, the Bighorn Mountains, Iowa, Michigans Upper Peninsula, Wisconsin, coastal Mendocino and destinations throughout California.
We are selling because our travel needs have changed and we no longer use the van enough to justify keeping it.
This is an excellent option for someone looking for a substantial, professionally built camper with serious electrical capacity, large freshwater storage, a permanent queen bed, an interior shower and true off-grid capability.
