Description

The Unicorn Family Camper: Rare Layout, Dry Bath, Murphy Bed + Bunks All At 3,100 lbs!

Asking Price: $13,000 OBO (weight distribution hitch included)

If you've been searching for a lightweight family travel trailer with a dry bath, a large dinette for four, privacy bunks, and beds for four people that don't need making every evening and you've been coming up empty you just found your camper.

The 2016 Venture RV Sonic Lite SL169VBH is a discontinued, hard-to-find floorplan that solves a real problem: how do you fit a family comfortably into a towable camper that doesn't require a truck? Very few models current or otherwise pull this off. We looked for years before finding this one, and we're only selling because our family's needs have changed.

WHY THIS FLOORPLAN IS SPECIAL
Most small travel trailers make you choose: bunks OR a dinette. A dry bath OR sleeping space. Easy towing OR real amenities. This one doesn't make you choose.
- Queen murphy bed folds down over the dinette at night, up out of the way during the day no wrestling with cushions or converting a sofa every night
- Dinette seats 4 very comfortably (see table notes below). We have actually comfortably fit 3 adults and 2 kids!
- Dry bath with a full separate bathroom including sink, toilet, shower with upgraded handheld showerhead, and a small tub a genuine rarity in this weight class
- Two extra-long bunk beds (87.5 inches!) long enough for virtually any adult or even two small children foot-to-foot. The top bunk even has a large storage cubby with a built-in electrical outlet perfect for charging devices, a nightlight, or a white noise machine.
- Three beds, zero daily setup the murphy and both bunks are ready to sleep without nightly assembly

Venture discontinued this layout for 2017 when they switched to a jackknife sofa (a change that reportedly hurt sales badly). This 2016 is the last year of this superior dinette configuration.

WHY THE DINETTE BEATS A JACKKNIFE SOFA
A jackknife sofa seats 23 people at best. For a family of four, the other people need folding chairs which then need somewhere to live in a 21-foot trailer (there isn't one). The table in those later models is also significantly smaller. With this dinette, all four people have a dedicated, comfortable seat, no folding chairs needed. Newer models may have more modern-looking interiors. But if you're buying a camper to actually use with a family, this layout wins.

THE BUNK AREA BETTER THAN IT LOOKS
The rear bunk section has a dedicated exterior door something you won't find on most travel trailers. The bottom bunk flips up, turning the back of the camper into a gear hauling area for bikes, strollers, or bulky equipment like a mini toy hauler. It's also a fun "secret door" for kids in the bottom bunk.

STORAGE WAY MORE THAN YOU'D EXPECT
Small campers are notorious for cramped storage. This one is the exception:
- Kitchen has 2 drawers and 4 cabinets kitchen supplies stay in the kitchen where they belong
- Large deep cabinet next to the kitchen ideal for clothing, games, entertainment, and gear
- Under the dinette we added hinges and a gas strut lift, turning the entire left bench into a deep easy-access storage compartment
- Two narrow cabinets on either side of the murphy bed
- Bathroom vanity with storage wet baths typically sacrifice this entirely
- Pass-through "garage" at the front for hookup supplies and dirty-campsite gear
- Large open storage area under the bottom bunk

For a 21-foot trailer, the organized, accessible storage is genuinely impressive.

THE TABLE SITUATION (BETTER THAN FACTORY)
The original factory table was large, heavy, and awkward likely the real reason Sonic switched to a jackknife sofa. It wasn't the dinette that was the problem; it was the table. We solved it:
- Replaced with two lightweight adjustable-height indoor/outdoor tables that slide out of the way in seconds
- Added a removable bench completing a quasi-U-shaped dinette and supporting the murphy bed bed setup is now effortless
- Tables adjust to dining, counter, or coffee table height and can be taken outside to the campsite
- Both the new tables AND the original factory table are included buyer chooses

HONEST NOTES ON CONDITION
Owned since 2021, used lightly a few trips per year. Prior to our ownership, also lightly used. Everything is functional and in good working order. Cosmetic wear only:
- Wallpaper damage in a few spots: behind the dinette cushions (velcro removal during reupholstering) and minor peeling at the ceiling above the TV and in the bunk area
- Veneer blemishes on a few spots on the kitchen cabinets and bathroom door
These are cosmetic only and do not affect function we've priced accordingly.

WHO THIS IS FOR
A family of four with an SUV. Kia Telluride (what we tow with), Ford Explorer, Chevy Tahoe, Toyota Sequoia, or similar no truck needed. If you've been frustrated by trailers that are too heavy, have a wet bath, don't have enough beds, or make you rebuild the bed every night this is the answer.
