We have lived and traveled full-time in this coach for the past 6 months, and every system is dialed in and working beautifully. It has been incredibly reliable, comfortable, warm in the winter, and genuinely enjoyable to live in.
We truly weren't planning to sell it anytime soon. We are only downsizing because our oldest daughter spends significant time in more remote places, and we need something smaller and more nimble to stay closer to her adventures.
If you know diesel pushers, you know the Essex was Newmar's flagship coach. The craftsmanship in this era is unbelievable... solid hardwood cabinetry, exceptional insulation, porcelain tile floors, incredible ride quality, and a true residential feel throughout.
Built on the Spartan K2 chassis with the 500hp Cummins and Comfort Drive steering, this coach is an absolute dream to drive. It feels stable, solid, quiet, and confidence-inspiring on the road. Thanks to the abundant insulation and high-end construction, it is also impressively quiet inside while traveling and while parked.
The previous owner was meticulous about maintenance and record keeping, and we have continued that same level of care during our ownership. We have extensive service records, repair documentation, and maintenance history for the coach.
I am a handyman and proactive with maintenance, so issues were addressed properly and promptly rather than ignored or patched temporarily.
It has been waxed approximately 3-4 times per year and still presents beautifully. The exterior shines incredibly well for its age and regularly gets compliments everywhere we travel. Many people are genuinely shocked when they learn it is a 2008.
Another major recent upgrade...we recently had 7 windows professionally de-fogged, which is a huge value and a very desirable improvement in an older coach. Fogged dual-pane windows are a common and expensive issue over time, so having this work already completed is a major plus for the next owner. This professional work was completed at an approximate value of $4,000, and the coach now has beautiful, clear visibility throughout.
The tires are also in great condition. The previous owner took a proactive approach by replacing/rotating two tires each year rather than waiting to replace the full set all at once, so there are newer tires throughout the coach.
All coach batteries were replaced less than a year ago.
We are also including the big rig GPS and tire pressure monitoring system with the sale, which has been very helpful and adds another layer of confidence and convenience while traveling.
What has made this coach especially unique for our family is the custom rear bunk setup. This already-converted family-friendly rig includes 2 bunks in a separate rear room, which has worked really well for full-time travel with kids/teens and gives everyone a little extra breathing room and privacy. The bunks could also easily be converted back into a large closet/storage space if desired.
Combined with the massive storage throughout the coach, luxury finishes, Oasis hydronic heat, and residential comfort, it has been a dream full-time setup for our family.
We have comfortably stayed in temperatures down to -6° while remaining cozy and warm with the Oasis hydronic heating system and continuous hot water (professionally serviced 6 months ago). Long showers, cold mornings, full-time living...this coach handles it all!
This coach has been deeply enjoyed, carefully maintained, and fully set up for real-world travel and full-time living.
Everything is in place for the next owners to simply load up and go.
