Description
FOR SALE: Lightweight Super Insulated Composite Tacoma Camper Top - 200w Solar - 1500w Goal Zero - Location: Cincinnati Area (vehicle not for sale)
Custom-built composite camper prototype designed for lightweight overland travel and simplicity. No tent material or pop-up. This camper has 4 years and 80,000 miles of real-world travel on the truck and has proven to be extremely quiet, an R value of over 12, durable, and super functional. I spent 2 months living out of it in the fall including a long run at Burning Man.
Unlike traditional truck campers, this build avoids wood framing, carpet, and complicated systems. The design philosophy was lightweight, super insulated, durable, and simple.
One-piece composite shell (no seams in the structure)
Built from high-density commercial insulation (25 PSI) with an R value of 12+, and fiberglass composite shell. (Very quiet and temperature stable)
Estimated weight ~650 lbs.
Built for Toyota Tacoma with 6-foot bed
Currently mounted on a 4-cylinder Tacoma 4X4
Truck drives very well with camper installed
Only suspension changes made were: 10-ply tires, +450 lb rear leaf springs
1500 watt Goal Zero
Three windows that open with screens
Two variable-speed ventilation fans (can blow in or out)
Fans controllable while lying in bed
Interior lighting with dimmer switch (also accessible from bed)
Built-in phone charging ports
Pantry cabinet with four shelves
Space below pantry for portable toilet
Interior tall enough to stand and shower
Tailgate can close normally
Rear access window allows tailgate to be opened from inside
The bed platform folds up allowing the entire 6 truck bed to be used as open living space. When extended the bed is 80 long and 68.5 wide.
If youre looking for a much lighter weight overland camper that prioritizes durability, simplicity, and real-world usability, this may be your build. I love being able to use it for play but I also use it for work.
