Description
2008 Itasca Navion 24J | Mercedes Sprinter Chassis | 107K Miles | ~14 MPG | Sleeps 6
Well-maintained, well-loved, extensively traveled and ready to go. This 24-foot Sprinter-based Class C combines ~14 MPG fuel economy and exceptional maneuverability with sleeping for six, a full kitchen and bath, slide-out, solar and significant off-grid capability.
It recently passed inspection and received a clean bill of health from our trusted Sprinter mechanic, with no additional work needed to be road-ready. We've invested substantially in reliability, including a recent $5,000 proactive intake replacement, plus a replaced starter, turbo, alternator, main computer and other mechanical work.
This RV was our family's home on the road. One year we spent 9 months out of 12 living and traveling in it, and altogether we've covered more than two-thirds of U.S. states and several Canadian provinces. We've driven it comfortably in cities and towns, developed campgrounds, national parks, national forests and remote boondocking locations. We know this rig inside and out and are happy to walk a new owner through every system in detail.
If we were still in a more nomadic phase of life, our family would confidently drive it to Alaska tomorrow. We now use it only once or twice a year and feel it's ready for its next owner.
WHY A SPRINTER-BASED CLASS C IS DIFFERENT
Most gas Class C motorhomes get around 810 MPG; this one averages about 14 MPG. With its approximately 26-gallon fuel tank, that gives us 350+ miles between fill-ups and meaningfully changes how you plan and budget a trip.
The longevity of the Sprinter diesel platform was one of the reasons we originally chose this coach, and 107K miles is not inherently high mileage for a well-maintained diesel Sprinter.
The ~41-foot turning circle is dramatically tighter than the 5060 feet typical of many larger Class C motorhomes. It drives more like a large van than a bus, fits widthwise in a standard parking space, handles campground loops easily, and is approachable for first-time RV drivers as well as experienced ones.
MECHANICAL CONDITION
This rig is road-ready.
Recent work:
Intake replaced a major $5,000 proactive investment to prevent future issues
Starter replaced
Chassis wiring repair
Inspection passed
Other major work during our ownership:
Turbo replaced
Alternator replaced
Main computer replaced
Transmission fluid replaced
Tow hitch structurally reinforced to increase towing capacity
We keep up with regular maintenance, drive it approximately weekly when we're not traveling to keep engine systems exercised, and address problems proactively rather than deferring them.
LAYOUT SLEEPS 6
Permanent rear double bed (49" x 75") plus an overhead cab double bed (49" x 75") above the driver and passenger seats. A family of four can go to sleep without converting anything both beds are always ready, which is a significant advantage when arriving late or wanting to get moving quickly in the morning.
The dinette slide-out converts into sleeping space for two additional people.
Unlike many Class C floorplans, both kids can sit in the dinette facing forward while driving a real quality-of-life feature for family travel. The slide-out greatly increases the living space when parked, and the separation between the rear bed and overhead bunk means early risers don't necessarily disturb everyone else.
The dinette, bathroom and refrigerator remain accessible during travel.
POWER & OFF-GRID CAPABILITY
34-gallon freshwater tank
38-gallon graywater tank
31-gallon blackwater tank
Renogy 200W solar panels
Rich Solar MPPT 20A charge controller
Brand-new 150Ah AGM house battery
Victron BMV-700 battery monitor
Tripp-Lite PowerVerter Ultracompact 3000W inverter with two standard AC outlets
Solar recharges the house battery during the day, allowing lights, the water pump and electronics to run without hookups. The 3000W inverter has two standard outlets for running laptops, appliances and other electronics off-grid.
In our experience, when traveling off-grid, water and tank capacity generally become the limiting factors before battery power does.
INTERIOR & SYSTEMS
Well insulated throughout, with all water piping inside the thermal envelope. Blackwater and graywater tank heaters make these systems practical for winter use.
The galley includes a refrigerator/freezer, three-burner stove, microwave/convection oven and sink. The fridge, freezer, furnace and hot-water heater can all run off either electric or propane no shore power required.
The fully enclosed bathroom has a toilet, shower, skylight and exhaust fan. Opening a couple of interior windows along with the shower exhaust fan creates excellent airflow throughout the coach.
Also included:
Powerful rooftop A/C and robust heating
TV and DVD player
Stereo
Reinforced cabinetry for extended trips
Added closet shelving creating five separate storage areas
Rear hitch bike rack holding up to four bikes
10-foot patio awning
Exterior storage bay with rollout bin

WeBoost cell-phone signal booster
Tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) with all-metal valve stems
All interior lights converted to LED
CONDITION & CARE
Good overall interior and exterior condition for its age. We've kept the RV dehumidified during the summer and heated during the winter to help preserve its systems and materials.
The most notable cosmetic issue is a crack on the rear panel. It has been screwed in place and covered with vinyl tape as a cost-effective fix. It believe it is solid and stable, but it has not been professionally repaired.
We've actually come to appreciate the modest wear and tear. This rig flies under the radar at remote trailheads and city parking in a way that shinier, newer motorhomes don't. We've always prioritized reliability and real-world usability over cosmetic flash.
GENERATOR
The generator is currently not working. It is likely repairable but has not been a priority since we primarily use solar or shore power and prefer quieter travel. If generator use is important to a serious buyer, we're open to discussing having it repaired before transfer.
WHAT TRANSFERS WITH THE SALE
We've accumulated a collection of hard-to-find spare parts for the coach, including interior handles, exterior light housings, exterior panel handles and more.
Also included:
RV cover
Extra house water pump
Aftermarket engine-systems monitor for reading engine temperature and other diagnostics
Two DC mini fans
AC space heater
Leveling blocks
Assorted kitchen utensils
WHY WE'RE SELLING
We are experienced RVers who have cared for this coach with the intention of preserving it for future owners. We're selling because we're simply not traveling this way as much anymore. We'd love to see it go to someone who will put it back on the road and enjoy it as much as we have.
