Description

  • PLEASE NOTE: We will be using our R-Pod right up until we find a buyer for it and we don't get online when we travel. So if you message about it while we are away camping I'll reply as quickly as possible when I return home or if you would like us to call you about it leave your number in your message and my son will get your message to us. Before each trip I'll post dates we will be away so you will know when you can expect a reply.

Our first trip is scheduled for February 27th until April 10th. We will be headed from Central PA down to Central Florida to get a jump on this years camping season! If you see this listing and are along that route we could stop by and let you take a look at it on our way North the beginning of April! My son will monitor our messages when we are traveling so if you email with your phone number he will forward that to us and we can give you a call. When you message let us know best time to call you!

Now for a little bit about our R-201 R-Pod. This camper is honestly "better than new" I have done hundreds - if not thousands - of dollars in upgrades (too many to list everything, but below I'll list some of them). All the typical production issues have been resolved. My wife is a "clean freak" so we don't go into the camper with shoes on, don't have grandkids or pets, and have always taken care of this thing like you can't even imagine. We bought it new in 2023 and it has been waxed every few months, so inside and out it looks better than new. As far as "sleeping capacity" this camper is ideal for one or two people it does have room on the love seat for an additional smaller child to sleep but I would honestly say it is best for just a couple without kids.

WHY NO SLIDES? We specifically were looking for a camper WITHOUT slides for several reasons. First off my wife hated the idea of bringing dirt, water, bugs, etc into the camper every time you retracted the slide on our R-180 so she didn't want a slide regardless. I hated extra openings in the camper with more risk for leaks and I also never liked the weight slides add to a camper for just a few extra inches of space. But more importantly was slides tend to have issues (according to every repair guy we ever talked to) and those issues are typically expensive to repair. So both my wife & I agreed when we replaced the R-180 we would buy a camper without slides!

NOTE: About the 2022 R-Pod R-201 -- they came in two different floor plans. We needed to find one offering the "euro rocker" to keep me from having to tear out anything that was built in. My free standing cabinet between the door and my theater recliner isn't fastened to the camper in any way and nothing had to be torn out of the camper to install that cabinet (cabinet DOESN'T move because steps hold in in place when traveling)! Google 2022 R-Pod 201 to see both floor plans available (the most common had a bench seat on both sides of the table ours originally had the love seat on one side of the table and the euro recliner on the other side as you can see on the floor plans you will find online. (I am not "smart enough" to figure out how to post that floor plan in my listing!) ALSO: If you need a desk for work my set up could be removed and a fold down desk would fit in that space perfectly!

As far as upgrades -- first and most importantly I installed rollers for the pocket doors to glide on (pocket doors in campers are problematic according to repair guys we talked to, so these rollers solve that issue). Next, instead of a hard to access "blanket box" under the bed that you needed to lift the mattress to access, I changed under the foot of the bed over to 3 compartments with slide in bins for easy access to that area (see pictures). We installed a new memory foam mattress and also added a nice bamboo topper (mattress cover) for cool sleeping. I removed the original table & Euro Recliner Chair and replaced those with a Theater Recliner and a custom built cabinet as you come in the door of the camper (again see my pictures). NOTE: The original table and Euro Recliner will come with the camper if you want those. And more importantly the theater recliner is on a sheet of plywood with carpet under it so the floor under the theater recliner is basically like brand new & the cabinet is freestanding (not attached in any way to the camper).

The upgrades don't end there -- I also installed straps on the TV to keep that from bouncing when traveling, a ton of hooks & towel bars because my wife likes things neat and organized. Neat plexiglass shelf fronts in the medicine cabinet behind the bathroom sink (see picture). All kinds of plastic bins in the cabinets & shelves in one wardrobe closet & more. Lots more upgrades but by now I am sure you are tired of reading.

Camper will come with EVERYTHING you need to camp EXCEPT for your personal items.
So if you purchase this all you will need to do is add clothes and your toothbrush and you will be ready to go. Camper will come with a $500+ Load Leveling & Anti Sway Hitch Assembly (mostly never even used). If that isn't enough, it also comes with not only all the set up stuff you need like hoses, sewer hose, power cord, leveling blocks, etc. It also has "spares" of pretty much everything. About $1000 worth of extra stuff you likely will never even need!

You can see all the features these R-201's came with just by looking up R-201 on Google so I am not going to waste a lot of typing on those. But I do want to say the electric awning has only been rolled out a couple times to clean it and the outdoor grill is still new in the box (never even opened). Everything works as it should - shower has never been used and all the appliances look as good as new.

Quick list of specs: length 25' (excluding tongue), dry weight 5000 lbs & (GVWR) 7500 lbs - giving you 2500 pounds for stuff added to camper which is pretty insane! // 30Amp electric, all 30 gallon holding tanks, leveling jacks changed over to heavy duty jacks. Any additional questions feel free to ask!

Wheel bearings were professionally packed last year, tires all look good and are wearing evenly, roof was inspected when we winterized 4 months ago - etc.

We love this camper and hate to be selling it but my mobility issues are telling me it is time to give up traveling!
This is our third R-pod in the past 10 years. We knew Forest River had a somewhat bad reputation before even considering an R-Pod but after close inspection we discovered for some crazy reason R-Pod's are not your typical Forest River product! But quality just seems so much better than other Forest River products we looked at and we have had great luck with all three R-Pods we have owned. We upgraded from a R-180 to the R-201 for the additional space when I had to stop sleeping in a bed and had to start sleeping in a recliner a couple years ago due to health reasons. Otherwise we would still likely own our R-180.
