Description
2018 Mercedes Sprinter 144 4x4. Seats 6 in separate seats and seat belts. The rear bed functions as a couch for hanging out for additional seating but not a shoulder seatbelt. Perfect blend of family weekend road trip vehicle with capacity to camp for days. We are the second owner; we purchased the van in Utah in late 2023 from the original owner. The van was originally outfitted by Sync Van in Idaho in 2019. When we purchased the van, we drove it back to Sync and to allow them to service all the existing systems they had installed in 2019. Additionally, we had Sync do a number of upgrades at that time totaling approximately $30,000. These upgrades included: modified sink cabinet to add pullout toilet, increased battery capacity with a second lithium 200 amp battery, fast charging alternator, Dometic A/C, OWL surf bar and rear racks with cargo box, Weboost cell booster, upgraded stereo, heated driver/passenger front seats. We have put about 20,000 miles on the van since purchase, mainly weekend family trips and road trips. We live in Greenville, SC and any trip over an hour involving the kids we use the van. NC mountains and the SC/NC beaches are typical trips. We have three kids (11, 10, 4) and have the van set up with individual seats for each child and an extra seat we can put in the van when needed. Any weekend, day or ski trip into North Carolina we take the van and it's perfect to have a vehicle where kids can use a toilet, get changed, relax, etc. Van makes a great tailgate vehicle for football games and great home base for youth sports and travel sports - it's awesome to have a place for kids to get changed, heat up some food, get out of nasty weather. We've added a microwave and Dometic fridge so hungry kids are easy to please without making stops. If you ski with kids the van is a game changer to get dressed and boot-up inside the van with the heater on. The heater runs off the vans diesel fuel and operates without the van being on. Last year we had a local shop in Charleston, SC replace the factory 23-gallon diesel tank for a 47-gallon extended range diesel tank so we get over well over 500 miles per tank. We also added power and USB plugs in the shelf above the driver/passenger with a RAM mount for watching movies or shows on an Ipad or tablet. The rear bed slides out and creates a queen/king size bed. The mattress is queen size, but there is about 4-6" on either side of the mattress that we fill with blankets so the overall width is closer to a king. We easily sleep one adult and two kids or two adults on the back bed. The original owner built an elevated/hanging bunk; we don't use this, but I have it and it will be included in the sale. If we all sleep in the van, we use an air mattress below the bed or special air mattress that works with the front seats. If we were keeping the van, I would eventually add the front seat bunkbeds or a rooftop tent. If you are only traveling with a couple of people the jump seats can easily be removed, and the van is perfect for a biking/skiing road trip with adults. The smart floor makes moving the seats around or removing them all together super easy. The exterior heated shower hookups are amazing after a mountain bike ride or beach day or or a hot shower over a camping weekend. The rear bed has a two-part mattress which can be setup as a rear bench seat for watching movies, hanging out, etc. I have the original Mercedes build spec when the van was purchased new from Mercedes in 2018/2019. I also have the original build Sync van did in 2019 and the upgrades they did for us in early 2024. I can provide PDFs with all the original work. We did the 60,000 mile sprinter service and everything mechanically is working great. Recently installed all new Mercedes brake pads and rotors. There is no damage to the van. The sides have several small dings from other car doors from ski hill and grocery store parking lots. Neither us nor the previous owner used the van off-road other than snow, beach and forest service roads. The 2018 sprinter is a great year for the van. Just after 2018 Mercedes started upgrading the interior dash and they had issues with the push start and the interface. This van has an actual key start and the aftermarket stereo adds a lot of features that current sprinters dont offer such as fading music from front to rear speakers. The upgraded Alpine stereo we added includes apple car play, rear camera, etc. I did not expect us to sell the van which is why I've put so much into it since the purchase. This van was our first van and I really didn't want to spend $250k on a new custom build so this was a great way for us to figure out exactly how we use a van and how much we would use it. Since the purchase weve probably got $40,000 into the van to make it the perfect blend of family road trip, gear hauler and great weekend camping machine. We've had some unexpected changes this year and that is the reason we have the van listed for sale.
