Why We Built This Van

My wife and I wanted a Class-B RV that could do it all—capable off-grid and off-road, comfortable on highways and in cities, and stealthy enough for urban overnighting. After an extensive search, we were disappointed by the “mobile home” quality and poor material choices in most professional builds. So, as a NASA engineer and LA-based designer, we decided to design and build our dream van ourselves.

The Chassis

We test-drove options from Ford, Dodge, and Mercedes, ultimately choosing the Mercedes Sprinter 2500 4x4 for its superior handling, capability, and overall performance. We started with a brand-new cargo van to ensure a clean, reliable foundation.

Professional-Grade Insulation & Comfort

We installed top-tier noise-dampening materials to reduce the road noise common in vans. The floor is insulated for warmth and comfort, while the walls and ceiling are insulated with rock wool—ideal for extreme heat, excellent for sound, resistant to water absorption, and naturally mold- and mildew-resistant.

For winter comfort, the van features a Webasto diesel furnace, which uses only a few cups of diesel per night and keeps the cabin warm even in freezing conditions.

Cabinetry Built Like a NASA Lab

No rattles. No squeaks. No cheap materials.

All cabinets are structured using 80/20 aluminum framing, similar to what’s used in NASA labs. The bed is constructed from powder-coated mild steel for superior strength and flexibility with the vehicle frame. Cabinet skins and doors are built from high-quality Baltic birch plywood, and all hardware is yacht-grade. A frame-mounted safe keeps your valuables secure.

Top-Tier Electrical System

Only the best components were used—Victron electronics and BattleBorn lithium batteries.

The system charges via solar, the vehicle alternator while driving, or from a standard household outlet when stored indoors.

No propane required—safe, simple, and modern.
