Description

Customized Ultimate Solo Boondocker - Roadtrek 210 Popular on a 2008 Chevy Express 3500 Extended Van

This is the ultimate customized solo boondockers RV. Ive owned it 9 years, put 110K miles on it, and spent 7 months in it full time each summer in the US, Alaska & Canada. In that time, I have made numerous upgrades always making it better. Now its a solid cruiser for those forestry roads getting you away in ridiculous comfort. But now sadly at 71, its time to give it up. Im moving to Hawaii November 20th! So my asking price reflects this need to sell FAST!

There is NOTHING that needs fixing either inside or out. I have never skimped on her care. All fluids have been changed on schedule and any service needed, done. The Chevy Express 3500 6.0L engine is a champ with tons of power. With oil changes every 6K miles, this engine is known for making 300K. Its never overheated, never set off warning lights, and doesn't burn oil. With a 2.5 lift, new XL shocks front & back, and 2 rear wheel spacers, handling is superb. The rear axle has been upgraded to the stronger Dana 70. And the BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires have plenty of life left. All house systems work too. With a 100W Renogy solar panel and DiCor Cooling paint on the roof, this baby is ready to roll. Included is a brand new ADCO UV Hydro RV cover worth $450.

One important consideration when traveling is parts availability and mechanics who can fix it. This is why I chose the Chevy Express 3500. Parts and mechanics are everywhere.

The two house 6V lead-acid golf cart batteries, with a remote watering system, were new in 2024. They are charged by the chassis DC-DC alternator plus the 100W Renogy flat solar panel on the roof. These can easily last well over 3 days depending on use and sun. With miserly use, the 30 gallons of fresh water can last almost 2 weeks (without showers). Showering in the full walk-in wet bath is wonderful as the propane heater gets water nice and hot quickly. And the furnace, with a new automatic thermostat, keeps you toasty. The Dometic 3-way refrigerator, with freezer is HUGE and has been very reliable. Im serious when I say Ive been silly comfortable.

Below are the house customizations for solo boondocking that have been made over the years:

Removed power sofa as it completely consumed the rear storage area. Built a fixed rear storage area, an upholstered backrest, and installed twin XL 6 memory foam mattress (80 long). Now theres plenty of room for a bicycle, inflatable SUP and more and a very comfortable bed.

Removed generator and KoolKat AC as both were broken losing 300 pounds. Built a huge waterproof storage area that can fit a window AC if needed.

Installed 100W Renogy Black flexible solar panel with a Victron controller large enough to add another 100W panel.

Redesigned the house battery storage compartment with a remote watering system.

Removed the microwave, which is useless for boondocking, and added another large storage cabinet.

Removed obsolete analogue roof TV antenna and old house AV system and upgraded to new Samsung TV and Sony DVD player.

Built a small bedside storage box

Removed Fiamma canopy as it was destroyed in a microburst and built a tarp system that takes 10 min to set up and is more reliable in wind.
