Description
1998 Born Free President 26RSB (rear side bed). Ford E450 V10 motor; 141,020 miles. Asking $25,000
All the maintenance records from myself as well as previous owners have been kept. I am the 3rd owner & have had her since 2021.
Features: Over the cab storage/entertainment compartment w/ solid wood cabinets.
frigerator runs on Propane or elec (Solar does not sustain an elec frig or AC) although a soft start was added to the AC unit. Just pulls too much starting out.
2 burner gas stove
propane Suburban heater
Propane 6 gal water heater
All Oak cabinetry
Previous owner added pieces that match so well: little side tables, glasses holders, Pencil/note paper holders
Heres what I have done:
Removed Generator for a Solar upgrade. Now can boondock indefinitely.
Removed the jack-knife sofa to make room for 4 Battle Born (lifetime warranty)100Ah lithium batteries & the Victron Solar smart inverter w/ mppt controller & all the other stuff that goes with it. I did remove the generator as the solar can keep you in power indefinitely (as I discovered one summer - even thru a week of rainy/cloudy weather). There are 2 solar panels on the roof that keep the batteries well charged.
I did remove the 2 captain chairs in the living area as I needed more storage. I built a simple cabinet which was originally designed for books & shoes but then I started collecting & tumbling rocks so the shoes had to go back into the closet. I kept the table but just use an office chair for myself. (see photos) Two small dining chairs would fit around the table.
2021/2022 6 new tires
2023 new radiator
2024 new Chassis battery
The seams on top (front & back) have been resealed & new vinyl put in. I could not removed the screws so just opted to seal instead.
The propane tank (29.3 gal - onboard) was sanded & repainted w/ truck bed coating as well as a rustoleum primer.
I will edit with more info as I review the maintenance log.
She is not without her faults. The AC has leaked & does leak because of the design so the carpet inside is stained. I just haven't cleaned it. Also the antennae mast needs to be removed. I have the fiberglass repair patch kit, just haven't gotten to it. There are 3 florescent lights that need to be replace w/ LEDs (purchased - just on that "to-do" list).
We are located in the Benson, AZ area.
