Description
1987 Gulfstream El Capitan 27 motorhome with a 1986 Ford 460 driveline on a John Deere frame (17N53). 20,000 miles, 3rd owner. I bought the RV in 2017 and completed a 2-year restoration, replacing the following- batteries, Michelin tires in 2018, ignition module, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, EGR, vacuum hoses, battery isolator, alternator, starter solenoid, 4 shocks, belts, steering stabilizer, front end bushings, master cylinder, 6 brake hoses, rebuilt power booster, hoses, transmission remote cooler, brakes on all wheels, calipers, generator circuit board, refrigerator circuit board, water heater, furnace, roof air unit, fuel pump, rubber fuel lines, valve cover gaskets, power converter, exhaust headers, push-button transmission shifter, great stereo, new speakers, rear camera, carpet, interior lights, microwave, and more. Stainless sink, refrigerator, and cabinets are original and the oven has never been used. New CB radio.
The driveline has been completely serviced, including transmission fluid and filter, differential oil, engine oil (synthetic used), coolant, K&N engine air filter, and power steering fluid.
The exterior awning was replaced in 2017.
The cruise control works, the Onan generator has 135 original hours and has been serviced with synthetic oil, carb rebuilt, new fuel pump, circuit board, plug wires, and hoses. New house water pump. All the plumbing is good and doesn't leak. New toilet and shower. All interior cushions have been replaced. The bed is king size with a memory foam mattress. The dash is custom made and rewired correctly. Relays control all high current devices- A/C, headlights, fan, etc. All new interior shades and curtains. The freezer goes down to -20 after a few hours, using propane or 120 volts.
The engine A/C compressor is new, new condenser, valve, accumulator, hoses, and custom vacuum controls were installed. Refrigerant is factory R-12.
All of the window/frames were removed and resealed, then tinted. The roof has been resealed. Skylight replaced. There is NO water or leak damage anywhere. The exterior has 2 coats of marine grade clear coat.
This motorhome was purchased new in Banning in 1987, I worked with the buyer and knew him well, and has been in the Coachella Valley since then, so it has always been in a dry climate. Never in snow. All service records since 2017 and original purchase paperwork included. Currently licensed and registered in California.
The vehicle has been stored under cover during my ownership
The motorhome runs perfectly and handles like a car. 3-speed C-6 transmission, Dana rear end. 11,500 lbs. curb weight. The RV had only 15,000 miles in 2017 and now has 20,000 miles. Nothing is needed, this motorhome is ready to drive anywhere today. I drove it to Colorado once, that is the only trip it ever made.
If you are looking for an older original motorhome that needs nothing, is turn-key ready, this is it.
Note- the only damage to the motorhome is shown in the last photo, the wheel opening trim is slightly bent and could easily be straightened.
My landline is 760.775.5160 and has voicemail. It does not accept texts.
