Description
Let me start by saying we have loved this trailer! Our family of 6 can easily stay somewhere for 5-6 days, especially if we conserve water when washing dishes and showering. It has huge tanks! It is also second to none for storage, inside and out, there is honestly so much space! We bought this unit for a couple reasons, one we were seriously considering building a house on some land we have, and we had planned to live in it for a time as we finished it up. But our life sort of changed directions and that is no longer on the horizon any time soon. The other reason is I wanted a fifth wheel, primarily for the added pass thru storage, and I've always wanted to have a Grand Design!
Being a 2019 model, it was built before the spike in demand during the covid pandemic. I've been told by folks in the industry that the quality went down as production had to ramp up dramatically during those couple of years. The only issue we've had with it was a wiring connection needed to be replaced on the fridge last summer.
We bought it used a couple years ago from a motor home dealer in Dallas. They put brand new tires on it and re-sealed the roof.
Previous owner had a 3rd AC installed (they lived South of San Antonio) but we just always used the 2 factory ones and we were never not comfortable, and we enjoy it cooler, especially at night.
Everything works excellent on it, with the exception of the laundry washer. The pump that drains the washer doesn't work, or at least didn't for us when we tried it for the first time, it probably just needs a new part but I never took the time to try and fix since we never needed to use it. We've used the dryer a few times though, pretty awesome to have that!
When we bought it, it had a Reese Goosebox attachment, so it connects to a gooseneck ball, which I actually really enjoy! Serious RV'ers probably don't like it as much as a 5th wheel hitch. BUT you get your whole truck bed when not towing/traveling.
There is a tri-fold couch that goes in the mid-bunk room that will go with it. We took it out for a different bed situation that worked better for us. The couch has been in our guest room for storage and will go with the unit.
Interior wear:
There a couple cabinets in the kitchen that are worn from use. Also one of the steps has some peeling happening.
Exterior wear (pictures for all of these):
1) There is a small dent in the panel under an outdoor storage area (lowered the jacks when there was a table there).
2) There is a small crack in the fiberglass under the cap. Turning into the drive of a friends cabin property and the rear axle of the truck hit a bump in the road and simultaneously the left tires of the trailer hit a divot in the driveway which brought the trailer down. The cap hit the left bed rail of the truck and cracked the fiberglass underneath the cap on the left side. It's been inspected by a local RV dealership and I was told it was just cosmetic and there is no structural damage.
3) A few weeks ago my wife was mowing with the ZTR mower and got a little too close to the kids bedroom slide and scratched it with the mower.
