Description
We are the second owners of this beautiful Airstream. The first owner camped in it 7 nights on their move from Arkansas, then it sat in a garage for a year before we bought it. We used it for a few years to camp around the Northwest then bought a motorhome in 2020 and the Airstream's been in storage ever since. We thought about using it for an AirBnB or taking it to Arizona for winter use, but we've finally decided neither will realistically ever happen so it's sadly time to sell.
We love the Airstream, and it's always fun to have people admire it everywhere we go. It's a little slice of Americana we've been proud to own.
This front bedroom model is by far the best layout. If you are just staying overnight and don't want to unhook, the bedroom is by your truck and the galley/dining nook is in the back where it's easier to go in and out for meal prep, barbecue and outdoor adventures.
We really like the separate lav and shower. The shower is really and the lav is less crowded with the shower across the hallway. There's an accordion curtain to isolate the front of the trailer from the back so you can have privacy to shower and dress with plenty of room to move about.
The nice thing is this model hasn't substantially changed since 2009 so you can save tens of thousands over the cost of a new or newer model and get virtually the same Airstream.
We call her "The Toaster" and she's got a few interesting features. I built a cabinet out of Baltic Birch for the microwave and coffee station, with extra storage in place of the couch extension. No one ever used that section of the couch and the microwave cabinet is much more useful.
I also installed a much improved battery charger/conditioner and moved it from under the bed to the dead space over the top of the refrigerator where it's vented to the outside. The original charger was noisy and I never really liked having it right under the bed. I also installed two deep-cycle marine batteries to serve the house 12V lights and water pump.
The AC and LPG furnace both work great, as does the water heater. The water heater recovers really fast!
The roof was sealed a couple pf years ago and we encourage the new owner reseals every couple of years.
I built a very substantial trailer hitch bracket and receiver under the rear bumper not to pull another trailer, rather to use for a bike rack. It has a couple of tie-down hooks to keep your bikes from rocking about back there.
The kitchen sink faucet is new and upgraded and we put in new and we upgraded the cheap-looking sheet vinyl flooring to a much upgraded luxury vinyl floor. I also changed all of the interior incandescent lights to LED.
Both interior and exterior are in great shape. There are a couple of little things that I haven't taken the time to correct and I'll discount accordingly.
Tires and brakes are good and it tows like a dream. You sometimes forget you're towing. I tow with a V-6 Ford F-150 and I've found myself going way too fast due to the aerodynamics of the Airstream. It has anti-sway bars that are very effective, and the included hitch is super-beefy.
Our "Toaster" has been a lot of fun and we'll miss her, but we need the garage she's been stored in for a new car so very sadly, we need to let her go.
Please reach out if you have questions other than "is it still available?" It is if it's still listed. I'll take the ad down within seconds of it selling so please don't waste your time with that question as I won't answer. I also won't respond to ridiculous offers. Do your research and you'll know our Airstream isn't over-priced. It's about a third the cost of a new one!
If you're serious and can pay for it, I'm happy to work with you.
Just for grins, I asked an AI to write an ad about our Airstream Flying Cloud. This is what the machine had to say.....
