Description
This Thor Sequence 20j has everything you need packed into 21.5 ft. A wetbath (shower, toilet and sink), kitchenette with a decent sized mini fridge (larger than most hotel minifridges) and a sink. A table and seating in the front for 4, another table and seating for 5 in the rear. The rear couch folds into a short king bed, the Skybunk unfolds pretty easily and collapses almost as easily (hard to pull down for people less than 150 lbs). We travelled with 2 adults and 3 kids/teens and a little dog.
This comes equipped with AC, gas heat, a gas stove, microwave(we used a 120v space heater instead of the gas heat) a 12 vdc fridge, 200ah of Lifepo4 batteries and solar panels on the roof. There is a shower, an external Propane outlet if you wanted to conenct an external grill, an external 120v outlet and a water connection for a spray-off hose All the interior and exterior lights are LED, there are several 120v AC outlets throughout the camper along with several USB-A and USB-C outlets to power any device you have. The SKYBUNK has 6 USB outlets and 2 lamps on flexible metal posts, We used a small USB powered fan to help blow AC up into the skybunk to help the teens stay cool at night.
The system automatically drops the max draw of the AC when using the microwave while on battery.
A 24" tv with HDMI connections and an AC outlet in an overhead storage compartment, the kids loved playing Xbox on long drives.
There is a Winegard Connect 2.0 which is a HD tv antenna, a WIFI-hotspot (using a cellular SIM card) the Wingard uses WI-Max technology which means you can get up to 1.5 MILES of wifi range from the camper. This is pretty cool if you want to check your AC status, temperature, battery voltage (to estimate battery life 14.4V = 100% 13.2V = about 50% 12.5V is 14% or less. )
There were times on trips we might go to a beach or restaurant where we had to leave our dog we could leave our little guy in the camper with the engine off, AC running off the coach batteries and I could remotely check the AC, interior temp, and battery voltage. The camper has a controller that is accessible through a "built in" Android tablet but can be accessed via a phone app over Bluetooth or remotely. We used a Verizon SIM card to power our Camper's internet connection and with its own WIFI hotspot we could access the controls anywhere, as long as we had signal AND the camper had signal. There were times when I drove it to work I would start the coach AC 20 min before I was leaving work to cool it down before I got there.
In practice we typically got up to 6 hours of AC on a hot sunny day on the batteries alone. This was great for stopping at rest areas and getting 6-8 hours of sleep on a long drive, at night when it was not as hot with the AC on auto, we could sleep all night on battery. Typically with good sun we could get up to 60% charge on a day (not running AC). The engine has an oversized alternator and charges the batteries while driving. This + the solar would keep us pretty topped off if we were camping with daily excursions. The camper has a 30a plug to feed it. We often used a 15A-20A adapter on our 30A plug and dropped our system to max 15A-20A and parked in friends and families driveways while visiting, typically we could use the AC, charge phones, laptops and run an Xbox.
I used this as my office to work from when visiting friends and family and working remote.
Times change, things change, I enjoyed the ability to be fully remote for several years. While homeschooling our kids, we had the freedom to travel anywhere and everywhere we had WIFI. But now the office wants to be in more days each week and our kids are getting to the age where they are getting jobs and have lots of extra curricular activities that require them to stay local.
This has been an amazing cozy camper, but it does not make the best commuter vehicle.
