Description
Remodeled Chevy Roadtrek with new Engine. The Roadtrek brand has been around since long before #Vanlife. They have spent years getting the design dialed to maximize every nook and cranny in the most practical living space possible. It is a true house on wheels and there is NOTHING missing for a fully contained and independent, off-the-grid experience.
Besides the new engine block having less than 20k miles on it, and the laundry list of features and updates below (where we have put a ton of time and money into taking care of this beauty), what is really most notable with this Van is the seating for 4. And sleeping for 4. It is the perfect family van. If you don’t have a family, it is also amazing for taking along a couple of friends. It is really rare to find a van with this much sleeping and safe seating.
Also very notable, is that while it is an older vehicle, if you know anything about the Chevy 350, you know that not only is it one of the best engines ever built and runs forever, and with so many out there still, getting parts/repairs is a dream when compared to any of the newer vehicles. There simply is less to fail, and when it does, it costs a fraction of the price. It runs and purrs amazing.
1995 Chevy G30 Van Chevy 350 V8 5.7L Brand new engine block with less than 20k miles. 182k Original miles. Rebuilt Brakes (New discs, calipers, pistons, lines)
Solar Power: 200W of Solar (high-quality panels, not the cheap kind). Two 12V 100AH batteries in parallel, tied into a 24V-120V inverter and controlled by a Vitron Solar Charge Controller. You don’t need to do much, and what is fantastic is that when the van just sits in the driveway, the solar charger always maintains and tops off the batteries, so that they maintain optimum health (compared to when you leave a house battery sitting in the van not charging except when you drive—the battery goes bad in a couple of months).
Microwave with turntable. Exhaust Range Hood. Stovetop: Two standard-size burners. Standard kitchen Sink. Pull Out cutting board and table. 3-Way Fridge/Freezer (Primarily used with propane, also works on shore power). Small freezer in the top of the fridge.
Exterior Paint: Painted redone from front to back, with Rhino lining bottom for tougher protection against dirt and rocks.
Roof Fan/Vent: Fantastic fan with three speeds, and can pull air in, or be reversed to push air out. This gets rid of odors, clears out smoke from the kitchen, or just helps stabilize temperatures or freshen air.
Air conditioning: Through the roof AC unit (works on shore power, not solar).
Kitchen Features: 4 Seatbelts and bucket seats. A lot of RVs and vans out there will advertise driving capabilities for many more than is safe. The only safe seatbelts in a vehicle are forward facing, and not against the back wall. This van has a legitimate four seat belts with 4 bucket seats.
Privacy Doors: There are two doors that open to separate the van into three compartments. Use one to make a two-bedroom van, use both to make a 2BR/1B van!
Drapes: Sliding drapes close all windows and make it dark for a good night’s sleep, and also keep it cool in the summer. Window tint all the way around as well.
Showers: The middle of the van serves as a shower. There are two doors that open on each side and form a room. The shower curtain pulls out inside this room, and the floor is a shower pan with a drain in the middle. Water-saving aerating showerhead with great pressure on/off toggle. Works like a champ.
Heater/Furnace: Thermostat controlled. Propane operated. Gets the van cooking in minutes even in cold temps. That’s the beauty of a small space. Also an OUTDOOR showerhead. This is incredible for washing off feet at the beach, or for taking full-on outdoor showers when you are remote and alone.
Toilet: The same room that is formed above for the shower, is used to make the bathroom. You only need to open the one door partway to use the toilet, but have the option to make an enclosed room for privacy. The fantastic fan in the ceiling is directly above and pulls the odors straight out. You would be surprised at how efficient this is.
Sleeps at least 4: The rear of the van can be used as a dinette, or as a queen-sized bed. We only ever used or owned the two cushions, and not the bolsters that fill in the remainder of the bed. We felt the bolsters would take up too much space, and when we make the bed, it’s a full-size bed, with a lot of space on the side for books/drinks/food/computers etc. The front two seats spin around and transform into two small twin beds. Long enough for an adult, but typically used for children through teenagers. There are a lot of ways to configure this. We did it differently over time as our kids grew.
Carplay Stereo and Backup Cam: Brand new Boss stereo with a brand new backup cam (wide angle, infrared night vision). You can see behind you perfectly even when it is pitch black out, which in our experience is a HUGE necessity.
Dining: Two different tables that store under the back seat. They can be used in either location (front or back), simultaneously or one at a time.
Hot Water Heater: Thermostat keeps it hot at all times, for the sink/dishes, or for showers.
Freshwater Tank: 33 Gallon
Grey Water Tank: 23 Gallon
Black Water Tank: 9 Gallon *I believe these numbers are correct, but not 100% sure on the actual values.
Lighting: Multiple 5W LED bulbs throughout.
USB Charging Stations: Two in the back and two in the front that operate from the house system, and two that operate from the car battery/stereo.
Power Outlets: Four 120V power outlets. GFI in the sink area.
Storage: Tons of storage. Outside there are two compartments that run along the side. In the rear under the bed, and tons of cabinets inside.
