Description

This Discovery has a rare layout with 1 King bed, and 2 pull out couches in addition to a dinette that can convert to a bed, sleeping up to 7 people. It’s equipped with everything from 3 flatscreen TVs, a stackable washer/ dryer, and a slide-out outdoor kitchen from the ample basement storage.

My wife and I picked up this 2010 Discovery 40X in March of last year (2019) from an RV Dealer in Tucson, Arizona. Before I would agree to the purchase, I wanted every maintenance record and I wanted to check it out not only inside and out, but underneath. Luckily, there had only been one previous owner, and their records were impeccable. Before we took delivery, one of the two roof air conditioning units was entirely replaced, the roof was resealed/recoated from front to back, and the minor leak on the transmission pan that I couldn’t live with was repaired. To boot, we purchased a transferable 2-year warranty.

The day we took possession, we hooked up our Jeep to the back via the Blue-Ox tow bar and started packing our essentials into it. A week later, we found ourselves traveling from Arizona to Montana. The coach performed flawlessly, and made for the best hotel stay experience we had anywhere; from a Flagstaff rest stop to the Lava Hot Springs KOA in Idaho. We fell in love with motorcoach adventuring, and the ability to park anywhere along the way and call it home.

This coach was quiet and glass smooth on good highways even at 75-80mph; our dishes in the kitchen occasionally making a rattle was louder than the engine 40 feet behind us. We’ve been amazed at the range of environments this coach does well in, with its heating and cooling capacity we were cool in Arizona summers and warm through Montana winters with very minor modifications (e.g., vent insulators and a heated water hose). And, especially when properly hooked up and not dry-docking, a hot shower was never more than a few minutes away after switching on the “game-changing” (quoting my wife here) water heater.

The bulletproof Allison 6-speed in this is fantastic, as is the factory equipped engine/exhaust braking system. At the flip of a switch, the engine prevents excessive speed downhill and you can give the air brakes a rest. The coach has never let us down; and I know at ~100k miles, the legendary Cummins diesel is barely broken in and will keep propelling its passengers on adventures for a long time to come. Give us a call and we’d be happy to arrange a showing. We will deliver to CO, UT, AZ.
