Description

*******SOLD******

**Updated 3.12.20**

Our 2001 Born Free 24RB is like new and it spent almost its whole life in Texas under a covered car port. It currently has 48,300 miles. We are the 2nd owners and I have a clean title in hand.  This is an extremely clean Born Free ready to hit the road.

As with any Born Free from early 2000's you should expect some items that might need to be addressed because of time and neglect.  However, I just spent the fall addressing every minor issue I could find.  I have spent thousands of dollars on repairs, upgrades, and replacements.  Recent work and upgrades include:

  • Batteries – 3 New 2018
  • Tires – 6 New Michelin 2018
  • Brakes – New 2019
  • Water pump – New 2019
  • Countertop upgrade - more modern looking
  • Refrigerator burner and igniter replaced - works like new, common failure on older units
  • Wastewater valves replaced (was a slow leak on black - both gray and black replaced)
  • Several LED upgrades – 3 new fixtures
  • Roof fan and vents re-sealed – old caulk removed, cleaned, sealed with Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant
  • All upper cabinet hinges replaced (often fail in older BF's)
  • E450 Vacuum leak fixed (very common)
  • Day/night shades re-strung in living area
  • New black out cellular shades in bath and kitchen
  • New bathroom sink and facet
  • Toilet completely rebuilt - all seals replaced and new ball valve
  • New sewage hose holder
  • 3 Seat belts installed on couch - 7 seat belts total
  • TV & DVD unit 24" – New 2017 – Installed on a new secure wall mount
  • Replaced outdoor shower handle and hose
  • Sealed Front over cab window - this is a very common weak point in older Born Free's.  The gaskets shrink with time and it can allow water to get in.  However, this unit was stored under a car port in TX for the last 19 years so there is little to no evidence of leaking. I used a flow-able silicon (as recommended) and it did a great job. I then conducted a pressure test to verify all leaks have been fixed and addressed a few other minor areas all around.
  • Several extra keys
  • Recent oil change at local Ford dealership, no additional issues reported - fully inspected in the state of Vermont until Fall 2020.
  • New Bathroom Fan (still needs to be installed – waiting for warmer weather)
I am sure I am missing things we have done.  My plan was to keep this unit but family circumstances have changed so it is for sale.  I am happy to send additional information or share more pictures.  Please serious inquires only.
