Description

"Jasper" is our 3rd beloved VW Camper, used for family trips around the US and occasionally as a 2nd car. Since retirement, our care of the van has preserved its pristine interior, enjoyed during a Fall 2020 month-long 4000-mile COVID19-safe trip to the East Coast. It is in excellent mechanical condition, ready for travel, camping, day trips, or even drive-in movies where you can chill beverages and make popcorn. At only 16' in length, our Eurovan fits any standard parking space and parking garage with a 6'8" clearance. Last month, we were camping on the beaches of Cape Cod one day and driving/parking in Boston the next. It's smaller and more nimble than nearly all motorhomes, and uses less full (averaged 17 MPG city and 22 MPG highway on our recent road trip).

Purchased in 1999 with 2,000 miles on it, we have complete maintenance records and the original hardcopy Owners Manual. The sink, stove, refrigerator (runs on propane, battery or external current), furnace (propane), sprayer for an outdoor shower work perfectly, and luggage tray with tie-down bars. New features include propane tank, fuel-injectors, belt-tensioner, coach/auxiliary battery, and struts for the counter and pop-top. A new 2-inch hitch held our Kuat double bike rack. Kept in a garage when not in use, it does have body rust like most Minnesota vehicles. We have adjusted the selling price to account for this. Because the external body is like any other 1999 non-camper VW Eurovan, the white replacement exterior panels are available for restoration.

Introduced in 1993, the Eurovan replaced the lower-powered rear-engine Vanagon with a front engine front-wheel drive model. Our 1999 Eurovan has a 5-speed automatic transmission with a 140HP, 2.8-liter V6 engine, dual airbags, fully independent suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, antilock brakes, power windows, air conditioning, power locks, cruise control, AM/FM 6-speaker stereo with CD player, intermittent wipers, rear wiper/washer, power mirrors, and removable middle passenger seat. The rear bench converts into a 2-person bed where we sleep, since becoming empty-nested. It also has a pop-up roof with 2-person bed where our children slept on family travels, full-swiveling captain's chairs, 2 fold-out tables, and window blinds for full privacy.

Afficionados of VW campers know that they hold their value. 1982 VW campers are now listed for almost double our asking price in 1999! This is why VW campers are snatched up so quickly!
