Description

This is a 2009 Winnebago 31J “Chalet”. I am the second owner, having purchased it May 2015 from El Monte RV. During my ownership, it has been used 4-6 times annually for beach camping trips, having added just 5k miles to the odometer during that time. It was a rental unit with El Monte (hence healthy mileage…), and was therefore meticulously serviced and I have 30+ pages of service history from its lifecycle as a rental unit.

The floor plan on this Class C is unique and has been optimal for my family with lots of kids. It sleeps 10. The slide-out bunkhouse has been amazing. It has Ford’s Triton V-10, a real workhorse of a motor introduced to the market almost 30 years ago and still a popular engine in new motor homes.

The Onan generator has 919 hours on it, fairly light for an 11YO motor home, and it fires up fine. During my ownership, the motor home has performed great, with no major issues. Necessary repairs include just 1) blower motor for the roof A/C; and 2) fan clutch for the secondary radiator. The new OEM fan clutch is about six months old, no engine temp issues anymore.

18 months ago, I had the rear suspension completely re-done (voluntarily). After a decade the original leaf springs were a little low; this project restored the motor home to its original stance and raised the rear end about 1.5”, providing much better stability on the freeway. Rear tires are good; front tires are very good. All interior lights were converted to LED so your kids won’t burn their fingers like mine did. I upgraded the TV from a 19” to a 27”, though candidly it doesn’t get much use. Water heater warms up quick; water pump cranks out a comfy shower for a motor home. Candidly, everything on this motor home works, and works well.
