Description

Sadly due to Medical Issues “Norman” my 2005 Fleetwood Excursion 39L has to leave the family.  “Norman” is as good an example of this fine motorhome, built when they were really well made, as you will find.  Why pay tens of thousands more when “Norman” can be yours for a very realistic price?  Before we discuss the usual stuff let me tell you about last year’s epic trip.  Pulling my Jeep 4door Wrangler, with canoe on top, and two bikes on back, we travelled from Jacksonville Florida on an amazing trip to Alaska, the furthest point being Homer.  We covered 13,000 miles in three months, and the only effect on Norman was the recording of those miles, meaning that today he has still only travelled an amazing low 29,000 miles.  I think he feels that his Caterpillar C7 350HP Diesel Pusher coupled to the Allison 6 Speed Auto Transmission is just about broken in.  Cruising at 70mph on freeways, or climbing up or descending the steep roads in the Rockies “Norman” never hiccupped. Some of “Norman’s”  features are obvious from the photographs but let me list them just to make sure you don’t miss any.

As you can see "Norman" has a beautiful home indoors where he is connected to 50amps that run the AC and keep the batteries up, fridge running etc.  This also means the roof is not exposed to the Florida heat, nor are the tires.  In the interests of full disclosure, on my return from Alaska when passing through Montana a deer the size of a cow decided to run in front of the bus causing irrepairable damage to the front fiberglass cap.  I managed to get him home and my insurance replaced the front end caps (2).  Fortuneately the damage was all cosmetic and no structural or other problems were caused.  So the front end paint job is new - finished in May.
