Description

Fantastic find - van camper with the legendary 7.3 Liter Diesel engine, known for its extraordinary longevity. (Search online for 7.3L Ford Diesel and you will be very impressed!) This van runs on diesel and/or waste vegetable oil (free from restaurants). Your choice! It’s roomy and comfortable. It can be configured to sleep up to 5 people, can seat 6 with seat belts, has a bathroom, gray water tank, tall standing height (with the top up), excellent ventilation and views, front swivel seat, privacy curtains all around, multiple cabinets, etc.... Because of well thought storage, the upper part is not boxed in so the van feels roomy and airy. With the spring-loaded top up, the interior ceiling height is 82”, or 76” if the upper bed is stowed on the ceiling. The pop up top has screened surround windows, enabling ample air flow when open and keeps rain out when closed. With the top down, the interior ceiling height is 50”, great for low resistance when driving. This van has served us well for long trips, camping and multi day events. Two strong batteries provide plenty of electricity, plus the van is outfitted for electric hookup. There are 12 volt and regular AC outlets, plenty of lighting options, and quality sound system and speakers. The bathroom is waterproof and convenient for privacy and showering because of the gray water tank. We use a large camp shower bag for showering. We didn’t install a black tank (didn’t want to deal with emptying it), but use a porta potty instead. A composting toilet would also work well. We also didn’t install plumbing because we didn’t want to have to winterize the van or risk plumbing problems, and we prefer to cook outside.

A snap on curtain surround of dark upholstery fabric provides privacy in the front cab, and all windows have curtains that also match the upholstery. This sportsmobile conversion has many quality features. There is a 30 gallon diesel tank underneath the van, and a beautiful 40 gallon rectangular oil fuel tank. You can switch between diesel and waste vegetable oil with the press of a button. The van is in excellent running condition. Note, though, that there is no diesel fuel gauge.  The oil system is a “grease car” conversion which was enhanced with the the installation of a FASS Fuel System for improved fuel mileage, engine performance, and extend the life. For those of you who are interested in being able to run on used vegetable oil, please be aware that you need to filter out food particles before putting it in your tank. You can pour it through a filtration bag and let gravity do the work. We ran this van and a VW Golf for many years on both waste oil (and diesel). Running exclusively on diesel would work well also.Let us know if you have questions.
