Description

WAYLON JENNINGS-1980 MCI-Custom Coach Industries Landcruiser-Motorhome
No, it wasn’t Waylons but this is what Waylon, Willie and the Boys toured the country in back in the 70’s and 80’s. Custom Coach would fit up Prevost, MCI, Silver Eagle and GMC chassis.
I’ve owned this bus for 5 years. There is one picture of it the day I picked it up. I’m essentially the second owner. Bill Britt, a top top guy in Amway Corporation bought it new in 1980. I have a copy of his temporary tag and as you can see in the picture, the original window sticker is $305k. That’s a million dollars today.
There is so so so much to list of what I’ve done I’m sure I will forget something, so please ask, it probably was done.
Things done over the past 5 years. 600 hours and 40k miles on a new 8V71 Turbo intercooled Detroit Diesel, I put the new oversized radiators in at the time, has new intercooler, new Allison 5 speed 740 series transmission (nothing was wrong with old one just figured to rebuild when engine was done), seals, brakes/drums, Alcoa’s with Michelin’s (including spare) 3:36 ratio rear end (70 mph bus at just under 2k rpm), upgraded steering box (really makes a difference, gets rid of the play in the wheel), 3 new Cruise Air type A/C units (bus was in a flood 2 years ago, water got just high enough in the basement to compromise the original units), espar heater, inverter, refrigerator, fantastic fans, paint job, new windows, awnings, LED marker/signal lights etcthat’s the big ticket items, loads of little things as well.
The bus had only 65k miles on it when I got it. I’ve put on 60k over the 5 years I’ve owned it. It spends it winters in AZ and the U.P. Of Michigan in the summer. I’m selling the bus because two years ago I started manufacturing pick up truck campers and travel trailers. I spend my time on the road with my products to test, so the bus is sitting more than it should. This bus is a well documented, one of a kind find. Feel free to ask any questions or call me. Marcus 480-686-1302  Bus will be in Michigan for the summer. Thank you!
