Description

Over 70 years ago, Airstream built 55 Flying Clouds. So, is this trailer rare? Absolutely, and you can bet you won’t pass another one coming the other way. Even better, this one sports the ever-cool, ultra-sought-after oval rear window. That's how we fell in love at first sight!
When I began the task of renovating this 1950s Airstream, leaving the interior intact and just cleaning it up was never an option. Thankfully, I was introduced to the very talened team at reparadise.co in Salt Lake City where we began a complete rebuild from the tip of the coupler to the bumper. While it was a complete gut job, we were able to salvage the aluminum overhead cabinets, interior panels and the original stove. The rest is new, using only the finest products and contruction process to date.

INTERIOR:
Walls insulated with closed-cell spray foam
Painted original interior panels with Ben Moore White Dove
All new cabinetry
Radius-edge doors (like originals)
Non-knotty alder with Koko stain
Brushed aluminum countertop
Restored stove
Isotherm 130 fridge with stainless steel front
Edelman leather royal hide custom cushions
Restored aluminum overhead cabinets
New blinds by Nelly’s Custom Drapery
New custom made mattresses

CHASSIS & FLOOR
As with many antique camp trailers this one needed a full restoration and there was nothing worth saving below the belt-line:

New axle
New brakes
Pole-style chassis completely refurbished
New sub-floor
New Kingswood oak floor
Trailer connection
License plate bracket
Trailer tongue & bumper painted a high gloss red

Oh, and we added an amazing bathroom, air conditioning and solar panels which of course, did not exist in Airstreams of this age. We also replicated a red and white awning for the vintage vibe, as well as white wall tires. I could go on and on about the blood, sweat and tears that was put into this trailer. But, perhaps you should just come see it for yourself. Or, I'd be more than happy to offer a FaceTime tour.

This ultra-rare 1951 Airstream Flying Cloud is as good as it gets. It's been rebuilt from top to bottom to last another 70 years, at least. So, why am I selling? I made a cross country move to the east coast and had every intention to go exploring. But, ultimately she has been spending a lot more time in indoor storage and a lot less time on the road. So, it's time to find a new onwer, that will apprecaite and care for this trailer as much as I have.
